Jason Nixon, your UCP candidate for Rimbey-Rocky Mountain House-Sundre
Jason was elected a Member of Legislative Assembly of Alberta for the constituency of Rimbey Rocky Mountain House Sundre in 2015.
During his time in the legislature, Jason has held notable positions in
leadership of both the Wildrose and UCP caucuses, including as Official Opposition House Leader, Chief Opposition Whip, and Leader of the Official Opposition.
He has also served in important Shadow Minister Portfolios including the Shadow Minister for Children’s Services, the Shadow Minister for Community & Social Services, the Shadow Minister for Human Services, and the Shadow Minister for
Democracy & Accountability.
Jason served on the negotiation team that created a framework for unity between the Wildrose Party
and the Progressive Conservative Party of Alberta. The agreement was ratified and approved by the
members of both parties in July 2017, establishing the United Conservative Party (UCP). Jason Kenney
the first elected leader of the UCP said that the “Unity Agreement and the United Conservative
movement in Alberta would not have happened without the leadership of Jason Nixon”.
During Jason’s time in office he has developed a reputation for having an authentic and strong voice for
his constituents. Jason helped lead the charge against the NDP since 2015 never backing down and
always focused on defending the people that sent him in to Edmonton. He is known in his constituency
as passionate defender of their communities, and never hesitates to speak up on behalf of his
constituents. Jason also works hard to be one of the most accessible politicians in the country.
Prior to public life, Jason developed a reputation for compassionate leadership through his work with
homeless and people facing addictions in our province. Jason is the oldest son of Pat Nixon, the founder
of one of Alberta’s most respected not-for-profit organizations, The Mustard Seed. He (Jason) spent over
25 years volunteering and working within The Mustard Seed community, and had the privilege of
serving as an Executive Director with the organization between 2006 and 2011.
In his personal life Jason is happily married to his high school sweetheart Tiffany and is the proud father
of Markus and twins Austin and Chyanne. He is a passionate rural Albertan and is dedicated to standing
up for Albertans, restoring integrity to public life, and ensuring we have a government that is
accountable to the people they were elected to serve.
